Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on The Law Basics may be affiliate links. If a reader uses an affiliate link and completes a qualifying action, the Site may receive compensation.

Key point
An affiliate relationship must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously near the relevant recommendation. A general footer policy does not replace a page-level disclosure where readers may otherwise miss the connection.
What an Affiliate Link Means
An affiliate link contains tracking information that lets a partner know a visitor came from The Law Basics. Compensation may be a commission, referral fee, lead fee, or other benefit.
Cost to Readers
Using an affiliate link generally does not increase the price paid by the reader, but pricing, eligibility, availability, and terms are controlled by the third-party provider.
Editorial Independence
Affiliate compensation does not purchase favorable legal conclusions or remove warnings, limitations, or alternatives. We aim to evaluate whether a resource is relevant to the reader’s task, not simply whether it pays a commission.
How Disclosures Appear
Relevant pages should use plain language such as:
Affiliate disclosure: This page contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you use one of these links, at no additional cost to you.
The disclosure should appear before or close to the affiliate links, in a format readers can notice and understand.
No Endorsement or Guarantee
An affiliate relationship does not guarantee a provider’s quality, legal compliance, security, accuracy, suitability, or continued availability. Readers should independently review terms, licensing, privacy practices, refund rules, and customer support.
Current Affiliate Partners
Required before publishing affiliate content: List the actual affiliate networks or providers used, or state that no affiliate relationships are currently active.
